Facebook + Bandcamp = I Had No Idea You Could Do This!

This past week — completely by accident — I discovered a surprising way to use Facebook and Bandcamp to share and sell music on the world's most popular website.

Did you know this was even possible?

I just created this video tutorial that walks you step by step through what it is, how I did it, and how you can too.

Fantastic tip, Bob. I tried to use it right away but it doesn't give me a player in Facebook. Did you have to adjust any Facebook privacy settings or other Facebook configs?

I had previously learned about BandCamp through a label my group was involved with for a special release...I thought, 'nice, another place to put music'. That's about all I thought. But you're really onto something here with this Facebook link trick. Thanks for another great idea!

Dan, I am not aware of any Facebook setting I have that allows this type of link.

In fact, I just went to your
http://www.facebook.com/Soulpajamas page and was able to play your track the same way I do mine. So it's working for me :)

From one "soul" musician to another!

Very nice tip, Bob. The fact that it has both a 'buy' and 'share' link make this an extra special tool. I am also fond of Bandcamp because you can sell physical items (as packages) with digital downloads. The folks at Bandcamp seem to be into pushing technology forward. Thanks for the tip!

Bob,

I got an answer from bandcamp tech support. The thing that was preventing your very cool tip from working for me was a bug in their system. Until they fix it, it won't work if your Facebook is set to use https security. A quick fix is to stop using that, which is what I did. It sounds like bandcamp is planning to fix the issue, so I should be able to go back to the higher security once they do. Thanks again. The ability to have a player in my Facebook wall is major.
